Hunting

Just last week, Skip posted a question on how student's absence due to hunting is handle at our sites. First of all, I think its different for each site, for instance, at our site those students that are planning on going hunting with their parent are encouraged to complete a pre-arranged absence form. This year the school is using the eligibility form for sports as this pre-arrangement absence form, this way the teachers are all aware that the student was granted subsistence leave and therefore is considered an excused absence. An excused absence allows you to an extension on your classwork, so when the student comes back from hunting, they have to get all caught up with all their classwork. As far as employees are concerned, it all depends on how much leave you have accumulated. If you don't have enough leave to cover your absence and you are willing to take leave without pay, happy hunting. Most employees usually ask for a Friday off and take off on Thursday evening and come back late Sunday night.

Brain Freeze

Hello my fellow bloggers. I'm very close to a melt down!!! Every week I have to hunt this site down so that I could compose my thoughts. Last week I gave up trying to find this bloggerspot and finally today I remembered how to access it only to wonder what it is that I wanted to say. School is in full bloom now, our first big WRITING assessment is scheduled for next week and here I have my little kindergartners still trying to perfect their drawings. We have been experiencing August weather...rain, rain, and more rain. I still need to take my camera to take pictures of my community. I keep saying I'll do that this weekend, but my weekends have been busy with berries and fishcamp cleaning duties. Well, until next week...happy days!

Am I tech-savvy or what!

Last week on Thursday our school site let out early for an in-service. Guess what? the program the district is implementing sounds so much like this bloggerspot!!! The only difference is that the site is just for our district's use and it only covers writing lessons and ideas to use for different levels. The district is hoping to add all content areas in the future. Now, between postings for this spot and writing for my rubicon program I am going computer nuts! It just makes me smile, when I think back decades ago, how I got so frustrated with everything getting computerized in our schools and now I can't seem to do anything without the aid of this laptop.
